Story

My mother was an exceptionally kind-hearted, magnanimous, and caring woman. Since my college was near my house, my friends would often come over to study with me. My mother was a school teacher. When she came home to the sight of us studying together, she would make sure to nourish us with delicious snacks and hot cups of tea. In the evening, I would see her in our courtyard, surrounded by the children of our domestic helpers. She gave each of them the time and attention they needed to pass their school exams with flying colours.

Story 

It was a path she’d taken countless times before – a narrow strip of gravel, fringed by thorny scrub on one side and the open sea on the other, weaving between clumps of trees and the occasional rocky outcrop. When she was younger, her mother would often joke that her destiny was tied to that one path – it was the same colour and had the same contours as the lines running through her palms.
